Tiere nutzen? · Use animals?

Anton Rotzetter (1939-2016) was a Capuchin monk, theologist, author, president of AKUT/Action Church and Animals Switzerland and co-founder of the Institute for Zoological Theology in Freiburg, Switzerland. Unfortunately he died on 1 March 2016.
His collaborator Annette Maria Forster takes his part in the discussion among the co-authors of this book.

Annette Maria Forster has worked in my different fields as a groom, businesswoman, hotelier, artist and family helper. She has kept animals all her life. Since 2014 she has been director of the Swiss Church and Animals Action (AKUT-CH) which she co-founded in 2004.

Within creation, animals are here for themselves

Today it is recognised that animals are able to feel and thus are sentient beings. Therefore the industrial use of animals and animal testing can no longer be justified. In any case, the situation on our planet is urging humanity to do without animal products and to gain our food in future from vegetables.

What about plants? Since vegetarians have existed there have been jokes from non-vegetarians making fun of plant murderers. I find it exciting that this thought-provoking concern has now become “book-worthy” in a serious context. There are already so many areas of ethical conflicts between humans and animals... how they would multiply infinitely when plants take center stage as food for both humans and animals! More…
